Eva Golinger’s Ongoing Legal Transgressions in the U.S. and Venezuela

The language used by ‘the bride of Venezuela’ -according to Hugo Chavez– leaves much to be desired. Yesterday, I published an article about the crimes that Eva Golinger is said to have committed in her country, the U.S. As expected in these times of revolutionary fervor and fanaticism, Golinger responded with unfounded accusations via Twitter.

Golinger claims to be a lawyer, respected, and knowledgeable about the law. In this context, one must ask, which country’s laws does Golinger know, those of hers (the U.S.) or those of Venezuela? Golinger asserts that she has not violated any laws anywhere. However, both in her country, the U.S., and in Venezuela, there are laws that explicitly prohibit defamation. Isn’t it therefore correct to state that Eva Golinger continues to violate the laws of her country, as well as the laws of Venezuela? Isn’t it also accurate to say that making serious accusations publicly, without evidence to support them, is a crime punishable in both the U.S. and Venezuela? Can anyone take seriously a legal professional, supposedly knowledgeable and respectful of the law, who expresses herself in such a manner?
