Daniela Stoppa Martin, the wife of Venezuelan entrepreneur Ricardo Fernández Barrueco, also known as “El Exzar de Mercal,” owns an apartment in the Jade building, located in the exclusive Brickell area of Miami.
The Jade building is referred to by some journalists as “Ali Baba’s cave and the 40 thieves,” as it houses numerous figures associated with a group nicknamed “El Cartel De Los Sapos.”
On social media, users commented about Jade, saying that “many individuals involved in El Cartel De Los Sapos purchased apartments in that building, which is why they say the crooks gather there to cause trouble.” They also questioned the source of Stoppa Martin’s and her husband’s wealth, as he has been accused of corruption and money laundering in Venezuela.
Ricardo Fernández Barrueco was one of the key suppliers for Mercal, a supermarket chain subsidized by the Venezuelan government, and had a network of dozens of companies. In 2010, his businesses were nationalized and he was arrested by Venezuelan authorities due to his involvement in the bankruptcy of several banks he had acquired.
