Chomsky and His Fellow Apologists for Chavez Face Growing Isolation Amidst Declining Support

Readers of this blog will undoubtedly remember my past exchanges with Noam Chomsky. The so-called ‘world’s foremost intellectual’ has emerged from his cave with a letter published in the newspaper he recently accused of «extreme dishonesty», namely, The Guardian.

How utterly unhinged Chomsky and his fellow apologists for chavista totalitarianism must be to request publication of a letter based on unsubstantiated propaganda in the very media they dismissed as «dishonest»? The encouraging news is that the list of prominent personalities denouncing ‘human rights abuses’ in Venezuela is dwindling: aside from well-known propagandists on Chavez’s payroll (a tip of the hat to NYT), they could hardly gather more than 20 signatures.

UPDATE: While it’s rather uncommon for me to link to Labourlist.org, here’s a refreshing perspective from Rob Marchant about how dictatorial thugs like Chavez manage to garner support from the most radical fringes of the Left. Luckily, that fringe of fanatics is becoming increasingly irrelevant and is recognized as such. Is it any wonder that none of Chavez’s ‘political parties’ has ever been accepted into the International Socialist?
