The electoral day has concluded, and the CNE, using the so-called “best electoral system in the world,” according to Eva Golinger, took 8 hours to announce partial results. In these results, although the opposition secured 52% of the votes, they garnered just over a third of the representatives. This is the democracy of 21st-century socialism, better known as participatory democracy, where the majority of votes does not equate to greater representation in Congress. It is a democracy where the leader, supported by a minority of Venezuelans, congratulates his followers for their “solid victory.”
Indeed, Hugo Chavez understands the consequences of losing control of the assembly in Venezuela, and he will not allow, under any democratic circumstances, the majority of Venezuelans to jeopardize his existence and hegemonic plans. The thugs surrounding him won’t allow it either. And for those who have doubts regarding this, they can ask Antonio Ledezma.
