The Italian justice system has closed the case against Alex Saab and his wife Camila Fabri, who had faced accusations of money laundering for more than six years, following their acquisition of a property in Rome. This is based on information from El Tiempo.
The document issued by the Rome Prosecutor’s Office clarifies that the agreement does not imply a formal acknowledgment of guilt.
Details on Alex Saab’s pardon: Conditions and scope of his release
A source familiar with the case stated that «years of persecution left the Italian Prosecutor’s Office no choice but to declare them innocent.»
On her X account, Camila Fabri expressed on Wednesday: «After 6 and a half years of persecution, an absurd and deeply politicized case has closed in Italy.
There was no trial, admission of guilt, nor any verdict, and certainly no conviction.
The truth is documented and signed by the Prosecutor’s Office.
The rest is media falsehood. We hold onto the truth and our innocence.
Always».
