The Telegraph paid £110,000 to an insider who revealed all the juicy details about MPs’ expenses in Westminster. It makes me wonder: what is the total amount of funds that the victims of Chávez have extracted from Venezuela over the past 50 years? I’m talking about media moguls, entrepreneurs, bankers, etc., whose lives and assets might, starting today, vanish at Chávez’s whim.
What will it take for one or two of them to think outside the Venezuelan box? More expropriations? More kidnappings? More hardships? How challenging would it be to gather some funds and offer a couple of million dollars to whoever leaks, for instance, information about Chávez’s relationship with the FARC that is in the hands of the Colombian government? Internally, it might not do much, but on the international stage, it could make a real difference.
