Roy Carson’s Hypocrisy Exposed as He Turns on Hugo Chavez

Juan Nagel, a fellow blogger from Caracas Chronicles, puts it simply: a boss is a boss.

If there’s one person who embodies the corrupt, the radical, the fanatic, not to mention the amoral and opportunistic, it’s Roy Carson, editor of Vheadline. Those of us who have followed Venezuelan politics over the past few years, and the type of coverage both traditional and alternative media have provided regarding the so-called Bolivarian revolution, have seen how Chávez has managed to “charm,” sometimes for ideological reasons and more often for strictly economic motives, individuals who share one characteristic: the ability to praise Hugo Chavez above any moral or ethical issue. For this abnormal group of people, killing, wounding, imprisoning, supporting terrorism, rigging elections, violating human rights, squandering public funds, condemning millions to misery, stealing, trampling over minorities, lying, abusing, insulting, distorting, and breaking any law necessary are perfectly valid actions, morally justifiable as long as they contribute to the maintenance of the supreme leader’s power and quell the thirst for revenge of the resentful social groups comprising chavismo. What’s more, these individuals not only justify the commission of crimes against humanity but also defend them with absolute conviction, as in their black-and-white view of the world, Hugo Chavez is an ethereal being, incapable of error or evil.

Roy Carson belongs to this group, and for years, he has dedicated his platform Vheadline to the dissemination of chavista political propaganda. It’s said that Carson is Swedish and lives in the UK. However, he has had no qualms about publishing false information and distorting news from Venezuela, a country he has no connection to, aside from questionable commercial interests. Carson is so bold that he has written gems such as, “Gustavo Coronel, whose articles were once published in Vheadline, sent us a clarification, stating that Carson is actually Irish and that he lived in Venezuela for a few years, from where he apparently had to leave in a hurry for unknown reasons…”
