One of the additional benefits of studying Geology is that you can easily distinguish between nonsense and real science regarding earth-related issues. Recently, I participated in an online debate at Miguel’s place (check the comments section) about global warming. My stance on this matter has remained unchanged; one should always doubt any argument put forth by the left. When a topic captures the attention of multimillion-dollar NGOs, parasitic multilateral organizations, and radical establishments, it’s even more reason to question it. In the case of global warming, only the ignorant will claim that the current warming trend is due to human activity. Lacking credible evidence to support their views, the global warming fraternity has gained political influence akin to the apocalyptic predictions they insist on making. Geology teaches us that the Earth has undergone many cycles of heating and cooling. In fact, the geological record contains evidence of these cycles from times when humans didn’t even exist. Thus, to conclude that the current warming is the result of carbon emissions from burning fossil fuels or ‘carbon footprints’ is simply foolish. Anyone even slightly familiar with geological principles knows that the largest source of greenhouse gases—namely, water vapor—comes from the oceans. That’s something that cannot be argued against. But why this sudden need to blame humans for global warming? Why the conscious disregard for science when it doesn’t align with conventional wisdom?
The answer lies in the ideology of those proposing the hypothesis, and keep in mind I use ‘hypothesis’ rather than ‘theory’ because they have failed to achieve such scientific status. The left has almost lost its way; they lack goals, unity of purpose, or an agenda beyond attacking and trying to dismantle capitalism. Global warming provides the perfect excuse to move forward. It’s the new card to play against the establishment; it serves to shame the business world, but most revealingly, it allows for the promotion of racism in its most primitive form. Radicals in this sphere have even gone so far as to send death threats to scientists who oppose the scam. Entire populations in developing countries are collectively and happily condemned to a life of misery by these advocates of the end of the world.
The UN established a panel (IPCC) whose conclusions are held as the ultimate truth about global warming. However, the published report does not substantiate the claims and uses semi-scientific jargon presumably to mislead the public. Crafted to argue the case with words rather than solid, credible scientific evidence, the report continues to emphasize the “plausibility” of the hypothesis or the “confidence” that bureaucrats on the UN payroll have in their hypothesis. Once again, any serious scientist would laugh at such an irresponsible and utterly useless way to describe a scientific phenomenon.
Channel 4 News aired a documentary yesterday aptly titled “The Great Global Warming Scam.” It’s a thorough investigation that reflects on the movement and the reasons behind this entire scam, based on rigorous scientific evidence, unlike the views from the other side of the equation. I was very pleased to see a prominent television network confront the hysterical crowd of global warming advocates and refute their accusations. Additionally, I learned about the origins of this new creed, tracing back to the one person the entire environmental community passionately despises, Margaret Thatcher. What an extraordinary revelation that even this trendy cause, so fashionable among the resentful fools of the world, is of her making.
