The war against the Cartel of the Suns is entering a new phase by the U.S. government with the establishment of a special task force designed to combat the threats posed by this global terrorist organization, as well as other criminal organizations, including the Tren de Aragua.
This initiative involves the Department of Justice and aims at historical levels of drug seizure. The primary goal of this force will be to fight against various cartels and gangs, including the aforementioned Cartel of the Suns, the Tren de Aragua, and Mara Salvatrucha.
The U.S. is also preparing to face the threat posed by the escape of individuals from prisons in Guatemala and Mexico who may be planning to enter U.S. territory.
Today, it was reported that two B-1B bombers from the U.S. Air Force, escorted by three KC-135 tanker aircraft, took off from Florida heading to the Caribbean, specifically to the coasts of Venezuela.
U.S. Security Threats and Institutional Response
The new special police task force announced nationally by President Donald Trump and high officials from his administration has been established to confront threats to U.S. security posed by organized crime, specifically targeting the Cartel of the Suns, the Tren de Aragua, and Mara Salvatrucha, among other gangs.
The creation of this unit coincides with the announcement of an unprecedented level of drug seizure, described as something “never seen before.”
Meanwhile, U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem mentioned the organizational efforts to put an end to the activities of the Cartel of the Suns, the Tren de Aragua, and other terrorist organizations, which she referred to as “garbage.”
In addition, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth announced the expansion of the counter-offensive due to the fact that the United States is facing a terrorist war and promised a significant response in the near future.
Hegseth focused on a specific incident where a drug-laden vessel was destroyed in the Pacific Ocean while heading towards U.S. territory. He assured that anyone who continues this behavior will be pursued and will face the full weight of the law.
Review of Responses
Additionally, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard stated that possible responses to the challenges posed by the drug cartels’ attacks are under review. She noted that in some cases, these cartels possess intelligence systems that are superior to those of the United States in certain areas, due to their high level of organization.
The official emphasized that collaborative agreements have been established with countries like Mexico aimed at combating this scourge jointly. She pointed out that this binational struggle is necessary because the threat includes issues like money laundering, sophisticated use of intelligence, and advanced technology employed by the cartels.
